3-Phase Demand Meters provide Measuring, Alarming and Control function.   Measuring 3 phase Amp Demand with digital meters and get additional parameters and alarm communications via software or relay outputs. Electrical utilities base their charges on power consumption, historically using a maximum demand indicator (MDI) to measure peak power consumption averaged over a number of minutes, avoiding artificially high readings caused by surges. Digital meters use a sliding window algorithm to simulate the characteristics of a thermal MDI. Regular updates over the demand period provide accurate measurements, avoiding new peaks.
